I have always embraced change. Now, exciting change is here again. I have decided to continue my lifelong love affair with real estate by working as a REALTOR with the Dillard Group in Norman. Norman is my home, I graduated from Norman High and have resided here for over 45 years. During my time at OU, I studied architecture. I understood the value of home ownership at a young age and purchased my first home in 1980. I remodeled it 3 times in 17 years then in 1997 I designed and general contracted the new home that Kelley and I enjoyed for 11 years. While serving in a leadership position at my church, in 2004, I was called upon to be the point lead in the planning and construction of a new 36000 square foot church home. It was truly a great experience. That facility continues today to serve many people here in Norman. In 2008 I felt it was again time to build a new home. I took a year to design and plan every element of the Mediterranean design on a private lake. It was and still is a true dream home. In 2019, with our daughter graduated and off to college we decided to downsize, we purchased a lovely home a couple of miles from campus. As I needed to put my stamp on it, I did an extensive remodel and was able to feed my passion once again! A few years ago, a client of mine in my automobile business paid me a beautiful compliment. She said, “you just helped me to navigate a scary and confusing process and I appreciate you so much”. This comment, coming from a woman who is a highly accomplished attorney in town touched me deeply. This is the level of service that I know I am able to offer to my real estate clients. Helping them navigate a process that can be very scary but can also be fun and easy with the right assistance. I am confident that my business background, experience in construction and remodeling, and my negotiating skills will benefit my clients in many ways. Understanding how spaces live and knowing how they can be made to live is an advantage in this market. I have always enjoyed creating a HOME because that is where we replenish our energy and emotion, where we create all that matters. If you’d like to know more about my background or if you already know me and want to know how I came to this decision, then I invite you to continue reading. In 1979 as I was taking time off from school to earn more money for tuition, I was recruited into the automobile industry. I enjoyed the social aspect of sales and as I experienced quick success, the car business became a passion. I had always loved cars, so it was an easy decision to alter my career path toward the auto industry. Working for a dear friend at a sports car lot beginning in 1980, I was exposed to all aspects of retail and later the wholesale business. In 1987 I began my entrepreneurial path by launching my own company, Street Cars Direct and marrying the love of my life, Miss Kelley! While I only dealt with other auto dealers wholesaling and providing inventory for them, it was fast paced but growth was difficult without the synergy of a team. By the mid 1990’s I finally learned that to be successful, you have to recruit and hire people better than you are. I went about surrounding myself with 4 other men that shared my vision, and through constant evolution in technology and reinvention we have stood the test of time. Street Cars Direct will celebrate 33 years of business here in 2020! I continue to feed my automotive passion by maintaining Street Cars Direct, but I have reorganized in a way which allows me to take a lesser role as the guys continue to provide for our clients. This reorganization or better yet, another reinvention of myself, is allowing me to pursue the next chapter, my passion for real estate.
